Isaac Makwala
400m African Record Holder

Isaac Makwala, aka “Badman,” is the 400m African Record holder with a time of 43.72s. He also holds the National Records for the 100, 200, AND 400m which he set early 2014 with times of 10.20s, 19.96s, and 43.72s respectively. This makes it the 13th fastest sprint triple of all time.

Notwithstanding, he ran his 200 and 2014 400m records (44.01s) on the same day, just 90 min apart, making it the fastest same-day 400-200m double of all time! Isaac is currently with the Francistown Athletics Club with coach, Justice Dipeba. Off the track, he has a Trade B in Carpentry and Joinery and in his free time he enjoys ‘facebooking’ (you can find him at “Isaac Badman Makwala ” page). His favourite sport apart from athletics is football; favourite TV programmes include Our Perfect Wedding Mzansi, Lobebe and WWE wrestling show.

Makwala’s sporting hero is the American 400m female runner, Sanya Richards Ross. Isaac is currently ranked first in the IAAF 400m top list with the firth fastest all-time best of 43.72s. This also makes him the first Non-American to be on the list.
